Most people think of black and white images and film being something of the past; but most people are in a different world to us that appreciate good design. I must see at least a few designs made up from pure black and white with maybe a splash of color every day - on the internet, in magazines, and when browsing the shopping center stores.
Although black and white web design has always been about, over the past few months I've noticed a dramatic increase in the amount of designs that use a very limited greyscale based 'color' scheme, especially within the creative field such as personal design portfolios, design studios and agency websites and design-based applications.
Below is just a selection of some of my favorite black and white web designs. I love the simplicity of them all, the odd splash of color and the way the minimalistic typography makes the content pop right out of our screens! We'd love to know your favorites from this beautiful showcase, and if you have any other suggestions of black and white design that isn't showcased here, please share it with us!

Funny, I've browsing the web for what 5 years and never bumped a black and white web design. Never thought it could look good on the net. Thanks again for sharing, last week I read of your article and it was really interesting. "If content is king..."

This is a very cool post. When looking at a black and white website, you can tell how powerful even the slightest use of color can have. This is a nice "trick" to have the viewers eyes focus on what you want them to see. Nice collection!
