Through a Designer’s Eyes – World’s Landmarks after a Zombie Apocalypse

Let us take a look at what a designer perceives about the way the world landmarks would look like after a zombie apocalypse.

The Opera House, Sydney

Endowed with a very unique and distinctive design, the Opera house in Sydney, Australia is a perfect venue for all things arty.  What’s more, it has enough space to house multiple shows at a go. A huge podium which is covered by identical roofs that has been designed using precast concrete shells, this world landmark attracts hordes of tourists from across the globe just to get a glimpse of it.

If the zombies were ever to hit the face of earth, they are sure to destroy the spectacular roof design, separating the casts and throwing them in the sea. What would be left behind would be a framework of the roof and the podium of the once splendid Opera House left in dust and rubble.

Eiffel Tower, Paris

A landmark par excellence, this beautiful landmark has been designed by assembling wrought iron lattices to form a tower like structure. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France is situated in one of the most romantic countries of the world, it is not just lovers who come to watch the Eiffel Tower. People of all ages and nationalities come here to take a good look at this designer masterpiece.

When the zombies strike, they are most likely to be air dropped on to the Eiffel Tower top from where they climb down. Chances are that they would try to disassemble the well connected lattices to disfigure the whole structure, leaving behind a sorry reminder of the landmark.

Houses of Parliament, London

The Houses of Parliament in London is the place in England where all the ministers of UK spend endless hours debating and brainstorming to come up with ideas for the betterment of the country. But, its design is what made the whole world sit and take notice of it. Sprawled on the banks of Thames River, the Gothic architecture of this landmark which is further enhanced by a clock tower, the Big Ben, has provided a backdrop for many famous movies and television dramas.

With a zombie apocalypse across the world, the House of Parliament in London would most probably be reduced to rubble with the clock tower left behind as a spectator to all the destruction. On the other hand, there are chances that the zombies may destroy the clock tower too.

The Taj Mahal, India

Famously known as the symbol of love, this astonishingly beautiful landmark in India with its majestic dome and the four towers that flank it is constructed in white marble. Built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, the beauty of this landmark is widespread all around the world and attracts tourists from all over.

However, the zombies know nothing about love and would destroy this mausoleum too. When they are through with it, there would be nothing left other than a gaping hole in the dome, walkways peppered with marble and cracked and bent towers.

Times Square, New York

Immortalized as one of the most commercial and happening junctions in Midtown Manhattan in New York, this area houses all the major brand stores whether it comes to fashion, gadgets and what not. A busiest junction at all times, the amazing lights at night with life size billboards is what makes Time Square different from other commercial areas in the world.
