Indeed as the months of summer expire the green retreats and is replaced with a hue of red and orange. As the leaves have yet to fall the change in color is immediate and pronounced. In this picture of the Japanese Maple tree the undergrowth has yet to turn from green. The reds and greens below contrast beautifully.
The orange and red hues of the Japanese Maple tree appear like a multi colored umbrella when set against the contrasting colors of the forest floor below.
