There is no denying it; there is a lot going on in the world at the moment.

Which, as parents, we know kids will be picking up on these changes and will be having to process.

It is easy to forget how similar to little sponges kids are, soaking up information even when we think they have tuned out.

To help kids (and us adults to!) it is important to take time out and focus on the natural world around us.

The natural world is the best therapy for anyone who needs either a respite from work or an energy boost.

More importantly, if you give your kids more time outside then they’ll develop a natural love for nature and the outside world which they’ll take into adulthood.

So we’ve put together a list of the most memorable UK family adventures that you can have with the kids.

They’re all fun (for kids and adults) and most importantly allow kids to connect with nature and inspire a curiosity for adventure.

By the way, if you love lists like this then make sure to check out our other travel lists like this one.

Eden Project

The Eden Project is an educational charity and social enterprise with a global mission to create a movement that builds relationships between people and the natural world.

Essentially the Eden Project is a few adjoining greenhouse domes on an epic scale. Each one houses thousands of plant species, and each enclosure emulates a natural biome.

The team at the Eden Project make sure the day is fun for everyone whilst also making sure kids learn the importance of why each plant plays a special role in the ecosystem.

The kids will even see some plant species that have been around since the dinosaurs roamed the world!

Bewilderwood

Where – Hoveton, Norfolk

Haven’t heard about Bewilderwood? There is a reason why this attraction is rated 4.5 from +2.2k reviews on TripAdvisor!

There are few things more magical than enchanting storybooks.

Storybooks have the ability to bring a child’s imagination to life, to inspire creativity and play. Now imagine a real life storybook built in nature and you have Bewilderwood.

Based on a series of books by author and creator Tom Blofeld, the wonderfully whimsical and delightfully wonky world of the Bewilderwood adventure parks bring the magic of Tom’s stories to life.

The attraction itself gives children and their families an incredible amount of joy and fun!

It’s one not to miss if you haven’t already been!

The Jurassic Coast

The name has it all right?

Just tell the kids that they’re going to be roaming the same beaches that dinosaurs once roamed and they’re eyes will light up!

Go for a refreshing swim. Grab a delicious ice cream on a hot summer’s day. Who knows you might even find a fossil!?

To get the kids even more excited for a trip to the beach, get them feeling their inner animal with this eco-friendly kidswear brand.

They have a range of super cute and high quality kids clothing for both summer and winter. Each clothing item is based around an animal or dinosaur and are guaranteed to inspire some fun.

Lake Windermere

Where – Cumbria

It’s a joy to behold England’s largest natural lake.

Whilst you’re there why not get the kids in a boat for some lake sailing, rowing or canoeing! Kids haven’t got their sealegs?

Maybe check out the activities onshore like abseiling or rock climbing.

Either way, there are plenty of options and could be as simple nature walks around the lakes whilst visiting the little towns which are dotted all around the lake and provide more than enough shopping and eating for all.

New Forest National Park

One word … Ponies!

Thousands of wild ponies roam the lands in this majestical park. All of them are safe to look at but of course cause they’re wild they will do as they please.

Whilst you’re there you can check out the farms and nature centres in the park which provide plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

Our tip? Head there in summer to enjoy a full day out and you might even spot a little pony foal.
