When my brother was about 14 years old, he rode his bike to a nearby gas station so he could buy a soda. On his way, a homeless man sitting on the curb asked him for some change. As my brother went to give it to him, a guy who was in the parking lot rolled his window down and said, “Hey kid, don’t give him your money!” Then another person rolled down their window and yelled, “Don’t listen to him! He can give him money if he wants to!” My brother stood there awkwardly in front of the homeless guy while being pressured by others, trying to decide if he should give the guy money or not.
