Top 5 Strangest Casinos in the World
If you think of casinos, which one comes to mind first? Maybe those resorts in Las Vegas or Macau, the one in Atlantic City, Reno, London, Monaco or Paris? For sure.
Some of them are extremely beautiful, while others have the best design. But these are the ones everyone knows and goes to, and not all the casinos in the world are the same.
Some of them are unusual and are located in unusual locations around the world. They may not be the traditional looking casinos with lights, hotels, or restaurants.
Each of these casinos is unique, and they are a proof that you can built a casino almost everywhere, without needing those special neon lights. There’s even one that offers a 15 euro no deposit bonus.
Here are five of the strangest casinos in the world, built in a cave, on a plane, or even in a taxi:
The basement casino
This casino is found in the 16th century country house named North Cadbury Court, located in Somerset, southern England, close to Yeovil. The huge mansion is available for different types of events, and it features an indoor swimming pool, a disco, and of course the basement casino.
There are professional local croupiers, and you can play roulette, blackjack and poker. The renovated basement casino can accommodate up to 30 people, making it one of the smallest casinos in the world, and it is available for groups when booking the entire building for events.
The underground casino
OK, a basement is still underground, but what about a cave? And that is where the casino at the Desert Cave hotel in the Australian town of Coober Pedy is located. It is the only casino in South Australia, a few hours driving from Adelaide.
It has plenty poker machines and a bar, and the air is pretty cool comparing to the outside temperatures often above 100 F. That is because the place is literally in the desert, where the town was founded over 100 years ago when the miners discovered opal.
The casino built on a puddle
The Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Illinois, was build on a puddle in 2011. The reason was to get around the state gambling laws, which allow riverboat casinos.
The place is conveniently located next to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, being popular for locals and tourists alike. It has 1,000 slots and over 50 table, but also bars and restaurants. If it weren’t for the location, the casino would pass as your usual casino place.
The casino in the sky
After the underground casino and the casino on a puddle, there is also a casino in the sky, literally. That is because the players will gamble at around 30,000 feet up in a plane. This is a concept from the French firms AirJet Designs and Designescence, which produced designs that can be installed on airliners and private jets.
For example, the Casino Jet Lounge features casino games tables, a bar, and also a space for the passengers to move around.
The casino in the taxi
Another moving casino is the smallest in the world: The Grosvenor Traveling Casino, which is based in a taxi car. The vehicle based in Birmingham, UK, has a gaming table, a croupier, TVs screening sporting events, and a bar.
All the magic happens in a black cab, which was initially intended to promote the summer campaigns of the Grosvenor Casino, back in 2016. Since then, the moving casino went on tour in many location around the United Kingdom. Check out gclub for a great experience.
