In this article, here are some of the best action-adventure games that you play in 2023 that we’re most looking forward to.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom:

Predictably, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the follow-up to Nintendo’s open-world masterwork, comes in first place. After a torturous wait since its release, Nintendo last year eventually unveiled an additional clip that highlighted the game’s new emphasis on verticality. Apart from these brief gameplay clips, given Breath of the Wild’s strong foundation, we can be confident that the sequel is in safe hands. Get your hands on it on May 12th, 2023 for all the major gaming devices like PlayStation, Xbox One, and multiple others.

Hogwarts Legacy:

Hogwarts Legacy is directly based on the lore, even though it isn’t a straight version of the books about Harry Potter. Although you’ll be participating as a Hogwarts student in the 1800s—hundreds of years before Harry and his friends—you’ll undoubtedly cause plenty of wizardly mayhem. Since it’s an open-world RPG, there will also be a lot to discover. To be released on May 5th 2023 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Atomic Heart:

We’ve been keeping an eye on Atomic Heart for a while now. This massive FPS-RPG combination by Mundfish has always seemed like it would be too good to be true—almost like a weird mashup of the vibes that BioShock, Fallout, and Far Cry convey. But with Mundfish and publisher Focus Entertainment working together, Atomic Heart is finally within reach. The game was released on February 21, 2023, on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Like a Dragon: Ishin:

Thankfully, Ry ga Gotoku Ishin! has reached the English-speaking regions. In 2014, the cult classic Yakuza video game was released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and in 2023, it will receive a complete remake with the new name Like a Dragon: Ishin. As this Yakuza spin-off transports us from contemporary Japan to the time of the samurai, expecting more than enough ridiculous action.

Sons of the Forest:

This year, Endnight will release a sequel to The Forest that will expand on the survival-horror survival game design. Sons of the Forest will have a significantly larger play area, new adversary AI, a revised system for creating weapons, and new strategies for defending yourself in the wild. This is one game that deserves your attention even though it is only scheduled for PC now. To be released on February 23, 2023.

Resident Evil 4 Remake:

Resident Evil 4 Remake is coming. The much-rumored, highly-anticipated modern take on the iconic survival horror will “preserve the essence of the original game”, but modernize the gameplay, “reimagine” the storyline and deliver the kind of graphics that the RE Engine has showcased in recent years. To be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24, 2023

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor:

Following Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order by about five years, Cal Kestis and his diminutive droid BD-1 continue their story in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. In light of the Empire’s increasing hold over the galaxy, Respawn Entertainment is aiming for a gloomy action RPG this year. On your quest for survival, be prepared to encounter a variety of new characters, develop different fighting techniques, and grasp several new Force abilities. It is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on April 28, 2023.

Dead Island 2:

Dead Island 2 has (un)dead from the grave. It’s an action role-playing game that invites you to “thrive, not simply live” in a zombie-infested LA and is coming early next year from Dambuster. There are six playable heroes each possessing their special ability and useful resistance to the deadly virus, making for a plot that appears to be just bursting with character and joy. To be released on April 21, 2023, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League:

You take on the role of our band of disorganized half-heroes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Team up with King Shark, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, or Harley Quinn, with robots or other teams playing the other four as you fight. In the Batman: Arkham universe, Rocksteady has previously stated that this is a sequel to the prior games, so get ready to see some current storylines. The game is scheduled to be released on May 26, 2023, for the PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II:

Even though we haven’t seen any gameplay from the upcoming Hellblade 2, the unveiling video was enough to get us excited. Aside from that teaser, the creators have also displayed some fantastic concept art. Overall, the game appears to be shaping out as a far more extensive experience than its predecessor’s narrowly focused trek. Since the development crew has grown greatly, we are confident that Hellblade II will be grander in every way. This will be coming out at the end of 2023 so keep an eye out for it.
