A 92 year old woman from Japan has embroided an astounding collection of embroidered traditional Japanese temari hand balls. Her Granddaughter, Flickr user NanAkua, has shared images of her Grandma’s works of art to the world. Her grandmother learned the technique in the 60’s, creating a huge collection of temari hand balls which has grown to 500 pieces. NanaAkua’s has shared the 500 Traditional japanese Temari Balls with hyper-detailed patterns, interesting structural compositions and vivid colours. The Japanese craft originated in China and is usually stitched by parents and grandparents as a New Year’s gift starting in the 7th century.
