Create a Cute Shop Icon in Photoshop
Learn how to create a cute little Shop/Store Icon using Adobe Photoshop. To make this icon we’ll be using basic shapes, blending options, filters and easy step by step methods.
Final Result
1. Create a new document that’s 700×700 pixels with a white background. Double click on the background layer to unlock it, then again to go into Blending Options and put in the Gradient Overlay below.
2. Using the Rectangle Tool, draw the main shape of the Shop using the colour below. Double click into Blending Options and put in the following inner glow:
3. Next grab the Rounded Rectangle Tool and draw the door. Go into Blending options and put in the following below:
4. Next draw the bottom of the shop using the Rectangle Tool & Rounded Rectangle Tool.
5. Draw the next part of the door using the Rectangle Tool, go into Blending Options and put in the gradient below.
6. Next select the Ellipse Tool and draw a small circle while holding down the Shift Key (to keep the shape perfect). Go into Blending Options and put in the Gradient Overlay and Bevel Emboss below:
Duplicate the circle by dragging it to the new layer icon and move it.
7. Next draw using the Rounded Rectangle Tool draw the final Door handle part and put in the Blending Options below:
8. With the Rounded Rectangle Tool, draw the window colour. Using the same tool, draw a smaller shape for the window glass and put in the Gradient Overlay below.
9. For the Open sign, draw a  shape using the Rounded Rectangle Tool. Rotate the shape by pressing CTRL+T and rotating a corner. Go into Blending Options and put in the following:
10. Using the Ellipse Tool & Line Tool, draw the rest of the sign features.
11. Next write open using the font Ballpark Weiner.
12. Next for the roof, select the Ellipse Tool and draw a circle using the colour #cd1010. Duplicate the circle and move it to the side by holding down the Shift or CTRL Key and clicking the right arrow (this will only work if you’ve clicked on the Move Tool). Do this until you have many circles like below.
Next select the Rounded Rectangle Tool and draw the rest of the roof like below.
13. Press CTRL + ‘ to bring up the grid. On the main rectangle layer, press CTRL+T, while holding down CTRL & Shift, select the top corners of the shape and drag them to the center like below.
Afterwards press CTRL+’ again to remove the grid. If the rectangle edges aren’t lining up with the end of the circles, press CTRL+T and bring align the edges with the circles.
14. While holding down the Shift Key, select the first and last roof layer to select all of the layers, right click and Convert to Smart Object to merge all the layers into one layer. To bring up the marquee around the roof, click on the layer thumbnail while holding down the CTRL Key. Create 2 new layers for the light tones and shading. Using a soft edged brush, draw on the shadows and tones of the roof on each layer. Put in the black brush layer to 12% Opacity and the white brush layer to 8% Opacity.
15. Bring up the marquee tool around the roof again, select the Elliptical Marquee Tool and draw over the bottom of the selected area while holding down the ALT Key to remove it. With the remaining shape create a new layer and fill it white. Set the Opacity to 50%.
16. Bring up the marquee around the roof one last time, select the Rectangle Marquee and remove the edges like below (draw over the 2 sides of the selected area while holding down the ALT Key to remove them). Create a new layer and place it below the roof layer & fill it black. Set the Blending Mode to Soft Light, and the Opacity to 62%.
17. For the drop shadow, select the rounded marquee tool and draw a black shape underneath the shop layers. Go into Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and put in 5.9.
