15. One Step Closer
Within a flash of seconds, Dakotah and the wolf inched closer. They were only a yard from each other while maintaining eye contact. Nick noticed Dakotah had her tail up and wagging, unlike the times when she was afraid. She eventually ran back to the couple who now gave a loud sigh of relief. The three started to walk back home when they heard what sounded like a hushed cry. It was the howl of the wolf, only more tender. The couple looked back for a few seconds and went about their way. This cry was to become a familiar sound soon.
