Your wedding day is truly a special day. You get to commit to spending the rest of your life to the person you love the most. However, sometimes relationships don’t always work out as we would like. Sometimes those problems even start on the day of the wedding.
Casey and Alex
Casey and Alex couldn’t wait to get married. They had been planning the wedding for months and worked hard to make sure everything was perfect. In keeping with tradition, they decided not to see each other the day and night before the wedding.
Casey was so excited to be a bride. The day before the wedding she felt invincible. She was going to be marrying the love of her life in front of all of her friends and family.
Hanging with the Bridesmaids
Casey was hanging out with her bridesmaids in her hotel room making sure that everything was in order. They were enjoying their last moments with Casey as a “single” woman.
While talking with her friends, one of them asked if she was ready to make such an intense commitment to someone. Casey began to get cold feet. Was she ready to commit to spending her entire life with just one person?
Casey started to freak out about getting married. Just as every bride does, she started to get the wedding jitters. She became anxious and couldn’t help but question whether she was making the right decision.
Advice from a Friend
Casey’s friends surrounded her and offered words of advice and encouragement. They assured her that it was completely normal to have these thoughts before getting married.
It was Casey’s childhood friend that made her realize that she was freaking out for no reason. Her friend reminded her that she always gets caught up in her emotions and has been known to make rash decisions.
Calming Her Down
While Casey spoke to her childhood friend, all of the other bridesmaids had left. So, her friend went to update them and let them know that Casey was calming down after their conversation.
The Phone Call
Casey’s friend came back into the room holding Casey’s cell phone. She handed Casey the phone with a knowing look. Even though Casey and Alex promised not to see or talk to each other before the wedding, she knew he was the only one who could make her feel better.
Alex was shocked to see Casey calling him. He wasn’t sure if he should pick up or not because they had agreed not to talk to each other. When he did pick up, he was surprised to hear about Casey’s worries.
The Right Decision
Alex was able to calm Casey down some more and reminded her of the wonderful six years they have spent together so far. He said that marriage wasn’t going to be that much different and that he was excited to spend his life with her.
Casey felt better after speaking to Alex about her fears and worries. She finally started to feel excited again. Little did everyone know that Casey’s wedding jitters was just the beginning of many more problems that weekend.
On such a busy day like the day before your wedding, you don’t always have your phone on you. So, when someone sent Casey some text messages, she didn’t notice the notification.
Ignoring the Messages
Casey received another text to her phone, but she was too busy with wedding preparations to check it. She assumed it was just someone else wishing her well before getting married.
The Third Message
It was when Casey heard a third text message come in that she decided to take a look. She was worried that something bad had happened and someone was trying to reach her. When she opened the messages though, she saw that they had come from an unknown number.
Turn of Events
With just those three text messages, Casey’s life would change drastically. She couldn’t believe what she had just read. This unknown number made her world come crashing down around her.
More texts came to her phone from the same number. The more she read the more upset she became. Finally, Casey decided to lock the door and let her tears out.
Casey hadn’t told her friends what she read in the text messages. They assumed she was still upset about getting cold feet. However, when they heard her crying so much they knew that something was very wrong.
Putting on a Happy Face
Casey stopped crying and prepared herself to walk out of the bathroom looking normal. It wasn’t going to be easy with the new information she had just received. She took a deep breath and pulled herself together.
The Wedding Goes On
Everyone standing outside the door was shocked to see Casey walk out with a smile. They were sure that they would have to comfort her some more. Casey was determined to go on with her wedding festivities though.
The texts that Casey received were from a woman who claimed to have been having an affair with Alex. Casey was shocked to find out that her fiancée was cheating on her, especially right before their wedding day.
Getting Back at Him
The only thing Casey had to keep her going was the fact that she wanted revenge on Alex. How dare he cheat on her and still plan to get married? She had some pretty nasty tricks up her sleeve.
Will You Marry Him?
One of the texts Casey received asked her if she was still going to marry Alex. After receiving concrete evidence that Alex had been cheating on her, she couldn’t help but feel that the entire relationship was fake.
Feeling Like a Fool
Casey felt like a fool for having been so blind to her fiancé’s affairs. She was left with a decision and it wasn’t going to be an easy one to make.
Through the texts, Casey received screenshots of messages between Alex and this woman along with selfies of the two of them. “Every word was like a dagger in my heart,” Casey had described in an interview.
Making the Announcement
Casey had to make a quick decision. Was she going to shame her cheating fiancé in front of all of their wedding guests or let this go by quietly? She decided to make a public announcement for all to hear.
While Casey was understandably furious with Alex, she was still very hurt by the fact that he cheated on her. “I loved Alex. I wanted to marry Alex tomorrow. I was too shocked and sad to be angry. I didn’t call him. This was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Instead, I knew it was the end of my dream relationship, and everyone was going to witness it,” she said.
Walking Down the Aisle
As Casey walked down the aisle to Alex, he noticed that something wasn’t right. Casey didn’t have the expression of a woman meeting the love of her life at the altar. Little did he know that his life was going to change forever in just a few moments.
Addressing the Crowd
Once Casey reached the end of the aisle, she turned around to face her family and friends. This was when she made the announcement that Alex had been cheating on her for months. Everyone was shocked. It was like something out of a movie.
Sharing the Texts
Casey took out her phone and started to read the text messages she had received out loud for everyone to hear. She shared raunchy messages between the two adulterers. The crowd was shocked into silence.
No Stopping Now
Casey didn’t plan on stopping. She was on a roll reading off the text messages. With Alex standing beside her, he was embarrassed and stunned at his soon-to-be ex-fiancé.
On and On She Went
“Alex tried to grab my hands but I put down my flowers to reveal my phone in my hand. I read every single message she sent me. With each word, more color left Alex’s face,” Casey recalled.
Alex stood by Casey until he couldn’t hear anymore. He and his best man stormed out of the room, Alex covering his face in embarrassment. How could this be happening?
Casey couldn’t help but feel proud of what she had just done. She stood up to her cheating fiancé and called him out in front of everyone. “There will be no wedding today. It seems Alex is not who I thought he was,” Casey concluded.
Something to Celebrate
Casey wasn’t going to let this stop everyone from having a good time, though. Rather than celebrating the love between Casey and Alex, guests celebrated healing and finding true love.
People weren’t sure how to react to the situation. Eventually, some people applauded and cheered for Casey. Once they loosened up, they got the party started.
When the story of Casey’s bravery got out, it went viral on the Internet. People were so proud of her for standing up for herself and in front of so many people. She was becoming an icon for women everywhere.
Words of Encouragement
Online commenters had nothing but good things to say. They offered her words of encouragement and told Casey how proud they were of her.
There is one word that describes Casey perfectly and that word is “brave.” After spending six years with the man she thought she was going to marry, she decided that she deserved better and embarrassed him publicly.
Hard Lesson to Learn
Casey sees what happened as an important learning experience. She knows that she will find the right one for her, but now she is going to be much more cautious about whom she gives her heart to.
